What We Stand For [David’s blog on Flawed Wednesday]

“When you know what you stand for, you know what to fight for.” ~ Kamala Harris

We thought, as many of you did, that the fight over what we stand for was the election. As it turns out, the fight is in front of us.

Last night, in a fit of irony, the man who said that he would eliminate The Constitution won a free and fair election. He has promised that it will be our last. He will be, as promised, a dictator on day one.

I know what I stand for. I believe in democracy. I believe in decency. I believe in equality. He stands for none of these things.

We’ve just given the arsonist has the keys to the house.

The fight is in front of us.

“When we fight, we win.” ~ Kamala Harris

  2. What happened yesterday brought back a vivid memory of what occurred centuries ago (1st Samuel 10). Back then, Israel wanted a king like all their neighboring countries. God made sure their desire was fulfilled, and with that, decades of turmoil and bloodshed ensued.

An excellent article by an Atlantic writer appeared this morning, and it gave us hope. I “think” it will be alright, eventually. But we’re not looking forward to Putin’s address to Congress, or more women dying, children not being educated, the elderly on the streets, etc.

Brenda is a mess this morning. I am doing my best for her. She and I desire to move to Vermont as we do not feel safe in the midst of all these gun-toting individuals in South Dakota. I could go on and on…

Yeah, we lost the battle, but the war rages on. We’re too old for this shit. We have to find our locus of control, I guess. Not to make a big decision right now and continue to live a moral and ethical life. Too, bring back some laughter.

    Thanks for listening.

    • I will have to look for that article. A little hope will go a long way today. Doing the best for each other is what matters most – above all the noise and chaos. That’s what we discussed this morning (what matters most). Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
